I’ve always loved this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, and I am really good at standing in my sunshine sometimes. Credit to John Thaxter for the amazing photo.
Remember when I posted that I wasn’t going to wait anymore? I’m still working on that! I’m also trying not to stand in my sunshine, unless it’s to soak up the wonderful warmth it’s providing me. Living in the now, not worrying about things.
The sun finally came out again today and it was truly lovely.
After work, I went out in the garden and transplanted the new lettuce I purchased on Tuesday, along with the marigolds that I hope will help deter pests from eating my plants.
I also dug in that bag of veggie mix into my raised garden beds, because I think the soil in them is lacking something! Many of the plants I’ve re-potted aren’t as green as I’d like, and I’m starting to wonder if it’s because of the soil mix I’ve been using.
Even the new Mr. Courgette’s new leaves are yellower than his older, bigger leaves. What gives, soil mix?! I was assured you’d be good for my veggies.
My peas are still green as ever, but my beans aren’t as green as they were before I transplanted them. I guess only time will tell.
I didn’t get to plant my seed potatoes because I used all the veggie mix up on the beds, so I’ll have to get another bag.
I snapped a few photos of our Japanese maple, too! I’m still trying to figure out what kind of Japanese maple it is — there are so many varieties. I had no idea. She’s got lots of delicate little flowers blooming, which are so pretty.
Her color is really amazing — fiery underneath and softer on the top of her leaves. I removed a few dead branches and trimmed back another tree that was crowding her a bit.
It’s really hard to capture the true essence of the color with the camera I have, but this picture is the closest to the real thing that I took today.
I’m looking forward to some more sunny days this spring! Sometimes it’s hard to not create shadows by standing in your own sunshine, but I’ll keep trying to let the light shine in!
